Job summary

Lincoln Tech in New Britain, CT is seeking an HVAC Program Lab Assistant to support hands-on training for students in a dynamic lab environment. You will assist faculty, maintain equipment, ensure safety, and provide technical guidance during lab sessions, with opportunities for growth in a well-established trade school.

This role emphasizes practical mentoring, operation of lab systems, and collaboration with instructors to deliver high‑quality training.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years hands-on experience with HVAC systems, equipment, and components.
  • EPA certification for refrigerant handling.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical HVAC systems.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with students.

Responsibilities

  • Assist faculty in setting up laboratory systems, equipment and trainers for student hands-on assignments.
  • Monitor students during lab sessions, ensuring adherence to proper safety protocols and industry standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to students during laboratory exercises.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on laboratory systems, equipment, and testing instruments.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and consumables; ensure materials are available for each lab session.
  • Assist in equipment setup, breakdown, and storage following lab exercises.
  • Identify safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, and coordinate repairs as needed.
  • Communicate with department coordinator regarding equipment status, safety concerns, and student progress.
  • Participate in program meetings, workshops, and recruitment events as assigned.

Job description

Join our HVAC team at Lincoln Tech in New Britain, CT supporting the next generation of HVAC professionals. This role combines your technical expertise with the opportunity to mentor students in a dynamic lab environment. Maintains lab equipment, tools, and supplies while providing technical support and safety oversight during HVAC laboratory sessions. Requirements Of An HVAC Program Lab Assistant

Preferred Qualifications
  • HVAC technical certification or associate degree in HVAC/Refrigeration
  • B or D license
  • Experience with HVAC Systems
  • Previous teaching, training, or mentoring experience
  • Physical Requirements - (If needed to maintain lab and equipment)
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. regularly
  • Continuous walking, reaching, bending, and kneeling
Campus Schedule

Monday - Thursday

  • Full-time: 7am - 5pm
  • Part-time schedules also available:
    • Part-Time Day options: 9:15 am - 11:15 am 1:15 pm - 3:15 pm
    • Part-Time Evening options: 8:00 pm - 10:15 pm
