Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an HVAC apprentice to train on equipment and controls at client sites. You will participate in the Service Technical Academy to build skills, gain recognition, and advance within the union framework.

You will develop troubleshooting abilities, communicate progress to customers, and meet first-year union training requirements while contributing to building efficiency and service quality.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of industry experience or HVAC service experience.
• Knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems and facilities management.
• Must have valid driver's license.
• Member or willing to join UA Journeymen and Apprentices.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

How you will do it

• Apprentices will be trained and will perform on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites.
• Apprentices will participate in certified training through Service Technical Academy that will build skill sets to provide continued opportunities for recognition, monetary rewards and advancement.
• Through coaching and mentorship, apprentices will develop skills to troubleshoot and resolve both technical issues as well as customer needs.
• You will keep JCI, contractors, and the customer advised of job progress and issues as needed.
• You will meet attendance requirements for required Union training for first year.
• Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities.
• Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

What we look for

• Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
• 1+ years of industry experience or experience in servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
• Generally required knowledge includes mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques
• Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent Johnson Controls to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner.
• Leadership skills to support the activities of Mechanics working on non-complex, non-critical mechanical HVAC equipment on a job site
• Self-starter with ability to eventually work independently.
• Prioritize safety in all forms.
• This position requires a valid driver's license.

Preferred

• 1-2 years of trade school or college in a technical emphasis.

*This is a Bargaining Unit Position.

Pay Range: $27.63-$30.70 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
