Job summary

EMCOR Government Services has an immediate need for an HVAC Mechanic in Herndon, Virginia. The HVAC Mechanic will troubleshoot and maintain HVAC equipment in two buildings; hours are M-F 7am-3pm under the Local 99 CBA.

The role requires a Journeyman HVAC license and extensive experience with commercial-industrial equipment, including reading blueprints and schematics. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, supervising junior staff, and coordinating with subcontractors.

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of maintenance and repair experience on commercial-industrial equipment.
  • CFC Universal certification.
  • Journeyman HVAC license or equivalent.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics and specifications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain ISSA TS/SCI with Poly.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintenance of site equipment and building structure.
  • Assist with HVAC system repairs and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot equipment on site.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Report deficiencies to supervisor.
  • Supervise HVAC Tour Mechanics and General Maintenance Workers.
  • Monitor subcontractors and provide reports.
  • Perform other tasks as directed.

Job Summary

EMCOR Government Services has an immediate need for an HVAC Mechanic in Herndon, Virginia.
The HVAC Mechanic will troubleshoot and maintain HVAC equipment in two buildings. This position is covered by the CBA for Local 99. The scheduled hours are: M-F 7am - 3pm.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist with the maintenance of site equipment and building structure.
  • Assist General Maintenance Workers with the maintenance and repairs of the building air systems on the site.
  • Assist with the troubleshooting of all equipment on site.
  • Perform preventive maintenance of all equipment on site.
  • Institute the corrective action and/or inform his supervisor on any deficiencies found while performing the job.
  • Supervise HVAC Tour Mechanics, and General Maintenance Workers as directed by his supervisor.
  • Monitor Subcontractors in their task and provide reports when needed.
  • Perform other task as directed by his supervisor.
Qualifications
  • CFC Universal
  • Journeyman HVAC License, or Md. Class 1 Engineers, or DC 3rd, or equivalent.
  • Five (5) or more years’ experience in maintenance and repairs on Commercial-Industrial building equipment to include but not limited to:

Chillers =/+500 tons Pumps Control Systems Air Handlers Cooling Towers Heat Exchangers

VAV’s VFD’s In Row Coolers Refrigerant systems

  • Demonstrate the ability to read and understand Blueprints, schematics and specifications.
  • Be able to demonstrate practical knowledge of Chiller Plant Operations and basic knowledge of a refrigerant cycle.
  • Be able to demonstrate practical knowledge of Building Air Systems.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an ISSA TS/SCI w/Poly.
Physical Demands
  • Heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 50lbs and push up to 100lbs)
  • Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking
  • Push, pull, move or lift any related equipment, supplies and parts required to complete the job
  • Manual dexterity and mobility
  • Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching as required to complete the job
