Job summary

Onslow County Public Schools is seeking an HVAC Mechanic I to install, maintain, and repair ventilation, air conditioning, and environmental systems across school facilities. The role reports to the Maintenance Director and requires reading blueprints, wiring controls, and ensuring code compliance.

Applicants should have HVAC experience, relevant state licenses preferred, and be willing to obtain a CDL permit within 6 months and a CDL within 1 year.

Qualifications

• Experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of ventilation, air conditioning, and environmental control systems.
• Heating/AC/Refrigeration license preferred per state requirements.
• Must be able to obtain CDL permit within 6 months and CDL license within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and repairs HVAC and commercial refrigeration equipment.
• Reads blueprints and diagrams and calibrates control systems.
• Installs equipment to NC Building Code standards and wires to NEC.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Maintenance Director.
