Job summary

Memorial Hospital - Chattanooga is seeking an HVAC Maintenance Mechanic to maintain our facility's environmental systems under the supervision of the Facilities Supervisor. You will handle routine and emergency tasks, including installation and repair of expansion units, chilled water fan coils, and refrigeration equipment to ensure patient comfort and safety.

Responsibilities

• Maintain environmental systems including expansion units, chilled water fan coil units, and refrigeration equipment.
• Install and repair HVAC components, pneumatic/electronic control systems.
• Complete work orders/PMs promptly and report issues to supervisor.
• Identify malfunctioning equipment and take corrective actions to reduce costs.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Adapt shift schedule to meet department needs.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an HVAC Maintenance Mechanic, under the direct supervision of the Facilities Supervisor, you will maintain our facility's environmental systems. Daily, you will assist with general maintenance, installation, and repairs of expansion units, chilled water fan cool units, refrigeration equipment, and pneumatic/electronic control systems. You'll handle both routine and emergency tasks, ensuring a comfortable, safe, and functional environment. Success in this role requires strong HVAC knowledge, practical repair experience, proactive problem-solving, and a commitment to uninterrupted system performance.

• Completes assigned work orders and/or PMs in a timely manner or informs supervisor of any problems accomplishing a task.
• Immediately identifies and informs supervisor of any malfunctioning equipment.
• Achieves to reduce maintenance and utility costs through improved operational procedures.
• Helps to maintain a clean, safe and organized work area.
• Maintains a professional attitude toward patients, visitors and staff at all times.
• Varies work schedule or shift to meet the department staffing needs.

Job Requirements

Required

• High School Graduate General studies, upon hire
• Certificate Other Certificate of HVACR technical education or Equivalent years of experience in the field, upon hire
• HVAC Universal Technician, upon hire

Preferred

• Vocational School Grad
• At least 3 years commercial or industrial HVACR experience
• 1-3 years of practical experience in an accredited hospital facilities department
