Established HVAC company in Southern Connecticut with over 50 years of service is seeking a full‑time, hands‑on HVAC Lead Installer.
In this role, you will be installing high‑efficiency equipment while leading a small, tightly‑knit team of up to 3 installers. We are looking for a natural leader who takes deep pride in their craftsmanship, can independently problem‑solve on site, and values excellent customer communication.
This position offers exceptional job stability—we have a strong backlog of local projects and have never had a single layoff in the last three years. You will also work directly under an easygoing General Manager with 30 years of industry experience.
Why Join Us?
- Top‑Tier Pay: $35.00 to $50.00 per hour based on your experience level.
- Consistent Work & Stability: Backlog of long‑term projects (including several upcoming apartment complexes) ensures zero seasonal downsizes.
- True Work‑Life Balance: Standard schedule is 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. Overtime is optional, highly respected, and never forced down your throat.
- Keep It Local: Most job sites are within a comfortable 15 to 20‑minute drive from the shop.
- Growth & Future Leadership: Upward mobility is available, with the potential to train into the General Manager role over the next few years.
- Outstanding Reputation: We maintain a flawless 5‑star Google review rating for our quality of work.
Key Responsibilities
- Hands‑on Installation: Actively install and commission residential and light commercial HVAC systems, including gas heating, central AC, heat pumps, and ductless mini‑splits.
- Crew Leadership: Direct, train, and mentor a small installation crew (1 to 3 people) on daily tasks.
- Site Management & Schematics: Read blueprints, fabricate/layout sheet metal, and problem‑solve layout modifications directly with builders on your feet.
- Quality & Commissioning: Perform brazing, pressure testing, evacuation, system startups, and airflow/combustion checks.
- Client Relations: Treat customer property with absolute respect and clearly explain system operations without using heavy technical jargon.
Required Qualifications
- Experience Requirement: 5+ years of HVAC installation experience is preferred, with a strong focus on residential systems.
- Mandatory Leadership: Minimum of 3+ years of direct experience leading an installation crew. (Note: We are looking for an established leader who can independently run a job from day one; we cannot accept senior installers without prior formal crew leadership experience).
- Technical Skills: Confident sheet metal/ductwork fabrication skills and a broad knowledge of electrical wiring diagrams and system controls.
- Tools & Licensing: Must possess your own set of trade tools and hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to lift heavy equipment and work comfortably in tight or challenging spaces like attics, basements, and crawlspaces.
Preferred Qualifications
- EPA 608 Universal Certification is highly preferred, though we are willing to hire the right leader without it and help you achieve it.
- Experience with communicating thermostats, high‑efficiency systems, NATE certification, or OSHA safety training.
Benefits & Compensation
- Competitive hourly pay ($35–$50/hr) + optional overtime opportunities.
