Job summary

R. Poust Heating & Air Conditioning in Sparta, NJ is hiring an HVAC Lead Installer to lead residential installations, mentor apprentices, and ensure every project meets quality, safety, and code standards.

You will supervise startups, perform testing, communicate with homeowners, handle low-voltage wiring, and maintain accurate documentation while keeping a safe, organized worksite. 5+ years of install experience and EPA certification are ideal.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of residential HVAC installation experience.
• 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role.
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, airflow, and low-voltage wiring.
• EPA Type II or Universal Certification.
• Proven leadership and crew management skills.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and work in attics, basements, and crawl spaces.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead Residential Installations and oversee projects to meet quality, safety, and code standards.
• Mentor & develop installers and apprentices on site.
• Perform system startups, testing, and commissioning for peak performance.
• Be the customer’s go-to expert, explaining timelines and answering questions.
• Lead low voltage wiring and thermostat setup, ensure proper system testing.
• Maintain accurate documentation and material tracking.

What You’ll Do

• Lead Residential InstallationsInstall and oversee HVAC systems including central AC, furnaces, heat pumps, and ductless mini-splits-ensuring every job meets our high standards for quality, safety, and code compliance.

• Mentor & Develop Your TeamGuide installers and apprentices, helping them grow their skills while keeping projects on track and efficient.

• System Startup & CommissioningPerform and supervise system startups, testing, and commissioning to guarantee peak performance and customer satisfaction.

• Be the Customer’s Go-To ExpertCommunicate clearly with homeowners, explain timelines, answer questions, and educate them on their new system.

• Low Voltage & TroubleshootingLead wiring, thermostat setup, and system testing with confidence and precision.

• Documentation & ReportingEnsure accurate job records, installation notes, and material tracking.

• Maintain a Safe, Organized WorksiteKeep job sites clean, safe, and well-managed from start to finish.

• Support LogisticsAssist with loading, unloading, and transporting equipment as needed.

What You Bring
