Job summary

Fortis Institute in Birmingham, AL is seeking an energetic HVAC/R faculty member to teach in our HVAC Program. This full-time position reports to the Program Director. The teaching load is three courses per term with two to three preps, and advisors to students as needed.

The ideal candidate will have HVAC/R certificate or diploma (AA preferred), EPA Universal certification, AL license, and 3+ years of hands-on experience. Teaching experience is a plus and strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of an HVAC/R program resulting in a certificate or diploma; an associate degree is preferred but not required
• EPA Universal - Required
• HVAC Certificate/License in AL
• NATE Certification is desired but not required
• HVAC Journeyman is desired but not required
• At least three years of experience as an HVAC/R Technician
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Highly organized, motivated, and results-driven
• Prior higher education/postsecondary teaching experience preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Teach HVAC/R courses in the program
• Manage a typical teaching load of three courses per term with two to three preparations
• Provide academic advising to students
• Assist the program director and participate in department training, meetings and graduation
