Job summary

Fortis College in Montgomery seeks an experienced HVAC/R Technician to join its faculty as a full-time instructor. The role centers on teaching HVAC/R courses, advising students, and supporting program operations under the Program Director.

Ideal candidates will have a certificate/diploma in HVAC/R (associate degree preferred), AL license, EPA Universal, and at least three years of field experience. Prior teaching is a plus.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited HVAC/R program resulting in a certificate of completion or diploma, associate degree preferred.
• HVAC Certification/Licence in AL and EPA Universal are required.
• At least three years of experience as an HVAC/R Technician.
• Prior higher education/postsecondary teaching experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Teach HVAC/R courses; typical load is three courses per term with two to three preparations.
• Provide academic advising to students.
• Assist the program director and participate in department meetings and graduation.
• Contribute to department training and campus activities.

Job Description

We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic faculty member to teach in our HVAC Program. This is a full-time, professional position reporting directly to the Program Director. The primary responsibility will be to teach HVAC/R courses. The typical teaching load is three courses each term, with two or three preparations. Applicants will also be expected to provide academic advising to students, assist the program director and participate in department training, meetings and graduation.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited HVAC/R program resulting in a certificate of completion or diploma; an associate degree is preferred but not required

• Certification:
  • HVAC Certification/Licence in AL
  • EPA Universal

• At least three years of experience as an HVAC/R Technician

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Highly organized, motivated, and results-driven

• Prior higher education/postsecondary teaching experience preferred but not required
