Johnson College is currently seeking part‑time Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) instructors to teach daytime classes for the upcoming fall 2026 semester. The Heating and Air Conditioning Installation Instructor is responsible for delivering high‑quality instruction in the installation of residential and light commercial HVAC systems, including forced air heating, air conditioning systems, and ductwork fabrication and installation. Responsibilities include course development, instructional delivery, and student assessment, as well as organizing and delivering class syllabi, maintaining a safe laboratory, ensuring training aids and equipment are ready, keeping accurate records of student performance, and providing timely feedback.
The ideal candidate should be able to speak confidently in front of a small crowd, have a passion for recruiting into the skilled trades, and be flexible with a work schedule that includes morning and afternoon classes. All teaching positions require a minimum of an Associate’s degree and/or 4‑5 years of technical experience. Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required. Individuals must have strong communication skills, ability to teach, expertise in their program area, good managerial skills, knowledge of industry standards, assessment skills, organizational skills, and word‑processing skills. EPA 608 Type 1 & 2 certification is required.
