Job summary

Gabriel Group seeks an HVAC Installer to install ductwork, equipment and accessories to company standards while delivering quality customer service. Expect on-site work from 7:30am-5:30pm with some evenings and weekends as needed, and potential on-call duties.

Role requires safety awareness, ability to handle ladders and heavy items, and adherence to company policies. Training and development opportunities are available, including NATE certification paths.

Responsibilities

  • Install heating and air conditioning systems, accessories, and ductwork per code.
  • Prepare job site and protect surfaces using floor protectors.
  • Use safety equipment daily and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Attend NATE review course and study materials for exam readiness.
  • Complete paperwork to support invoices, estimates, orders, and timecards.
  • Operate company vehicle safely and follow all safety standards.
  • Maintain professional appearance and conduct at all times.
  • Obtain positive customer reviews and support other duties as assigned.

7:30am to 5:30pm, Monday through Thursday, some evenings and weekends required as needed. Will be required to be On-Call at times as well.

Primary Job Function:

To install heating and air conditioning systems, accessories, and ductwork to company standards while providing the customer with a high-quality experience.

Reports to:
Duties:
  • Properly use safety equipment daily, to include but not limited to, gloves, back brace, lifting harness, safety glasses and continual observation of surroundings and team members
  • Clean truck as needed, including exterior washing and interior cleanings. Vehicle should be kept free of trash, debris, unused food and drink. Vehicle interior should be swept free from excess dirt. Vehicle interior compartments should hold all tools and equipment, keeping floor area free from falling and/or rolling items
  • Properly prepare the job site using drop cloths, moving furniture or obstructions and prepare surface areas using floor protectors
  • Properly install ductwork per code
  • Properly support ductwork per code
  • Properly remove equipment per code
  • Properly install equipment, accessories and controls per code
  • Attend NATE review course, acquire study materials needed, begin to study to prepare for exam
  • Complete necessary paperwork to support invoices, estimates, orders, inventory, timecards and other information provided to customers, coworkers and supervisors as needed
  • Operate company vehicle following all Safety standards and applicable laws
  • Follow instructions from supervisor in a timely manner
  • Immediately report any problems with company tools or vehicles to the supervisor
  • Work well with customers, co-workers and other subcontractors
  • Clean job site. Job site should be picked up and left in a condition better or equivalent to that as when we arrived. This includes moving all trash and debris, sweeping or vacuuming site, removing all tools, parts and equipment.
  • Maintain professional appearance and attitude always.
  • Properly seal ductwork per code
  • Safely work off 4’ and above ladders, and extension ladders
  • Check out materials on inventory listing from warehouse
  • Use and perform workflow process on service software through mobile device
  • Obtain positive customer reviews
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Demonstrated skill progression to proficiently perform all Level 4 tasks without supervision.

Physical demands:

Reaching, bending, stooping, walking, sitting, crawling, squatting. Holding, carrying objects and lifting – including heavy objects such as equipment up to 300 pounds. Use of tools and equipment such as hand tools and ladders including extension ladders.

Work environment:

Environment consists of extreme variations due to conditions, including but not limited to: heat, cold, wet, wind, sunlight, absence of light, insects, animals, mammals, reptiles and other conditions deemed by worksite.

Achievements Required to Advance to a Level 5
  • Overall understanding of most replacement installations and basic refrigeration
  • Complete installation of standard ductwork fittings: rectangular and round.
  • Ability to set and reconnect air handlers and furnaces
  • Knowledge and ability to wire and program most controls and thermostats
  • Possess required installer tool set
  • Perform start ups on all equipment
  • Obtain all NATE Installation Specialties add $0.50/hr.
  • 75 Accessories sold and/or $3,750 in accessory revenue generated and 10 Maintenance Agreements sold – Add $1.50per/ hour
  • Recommendation for advancement from Install Manager
  • Complete required safety training
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
  • Insurable by company insurance carrier
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Able to clearly communicate in the English language both verbally and in writing
  • Participate in Company meetings as necessary
  • Must be able to take direction from Lead workers and Supervisors
  • Ability to report to work on time each workday
  • Ability to adhere to company dress code
  • Willingness to invest time in training seminars and classes including NATE certification
  • Ability to accurately complete timecard daily
  • Ability to complete mathematical calculations correctly
  • Ability to follow directions given, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to comply with ALL SAFETY RULES
  • Must possess basic safety knowledge of tools and surroundings including how to safely use a ladder
  • Ability to use a tape measure correctly
  • Ability to use a hammer and a 4-pound hammer
  • Ability to operate a battery powered drill
  • Ability to cut and drill holes as needed
  • Ability to insulate ductwork per code
  • Ability to build platforms per code
  • Ability to carry 100lbs overhead with assistance
  • Ability to unload and load truck as needed
  • Ability to unload and stock supplies and equipment in warehouse
  • Ability to restock truck with proper level of supplies daily
