Job summary

Ice-Man Refrigeration, Inc. in New Jersey is seeking an experienced HVAC installer with broad knowledge of installing furnaces, boilers, condensers, evaporators, and heat pumps.

You will read manufacturer specs, delegate site tasks, perform EPA procedures, and ensure proper venting and testing to meet specifications. The role requires a minimum of 5 years’ installation experience, EPA certification, and a valid driver license; experience with Carrier products and ductwork fabrication are a plus.

Qualifications

• Understand Mechanical/Plumbing/Electrical/Fire codes for installation of HVAC equipment.
• Read installation instructions/specifications and follow precisely.
• Ability to delegate tasks at the job site to complete work efficiently.
• EPA procedures for refrigerant removal, evacuation, and positioning of new equipment.
• Commissioning of new equipment, airflow checks, refrigerant charge, and control settings.
• Vent furnaces properly for 80%/90% efficiency and install condensers with correct wiring.
• Brazing, nitrogen testing, evacuating lines, and installing line sets/driers.
• Test system performance and ensure proper operation per manufacturers' specs.
• Set up thermostat communication and ensure customer understanding.

Responsibilities

• Install HVAC systems including furnaces, boilers, condensers, evaporators, and heat pumps.

• Perform EPA procedures for refrigerants and proper equipment placement.
• Commission equipment and verify airflow, refrigerant charge, and controls.
• Vent furnaces and ensure proper venting and efficiency.
• Install high/low voltage wiring and service disconnects per specs.
• Brazing, testing, and evacuation of lines; install condensate drains.
• Test and verify system operation; confirm refrigerant charge and superheat/subcooling.
• Communicate professionally with customers during and after installation.

Seeking experienced HVAC installer with a broad-based knowledge of the installation process for HVAC systems, including furnaces, boilers, condensing units, evaporator and fan coils, heat pumps and mini-split systems.

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years' experience installing HVAC systems
• EPA Certification
• NATE – Preferred but not required
• Valid Driver License
• Carrier Products a Plus
• Fabricating Ductwork a Plus

Skillset should include:

• Understand Mechanical/Plumbing/Electrical/Fire codes for installation of HVAC equipment
• Ability to read manufacturer installation instructions/specifications - following without deviation
• Ability to receive and delegate tasks at the job site to efficiently complete the job.
• Proper EPA procedures for removal of existing HVAC equipment, evacuating refrigerant and measuring for proper positioning of new equipment
• Commissioning of new equipment, checking airflow setting, refrigerant charge, proper setting of controls/setup. Updating software & setting proper settings
• Properly vent furnaces that are 80% or 90% efficiency
• Proper installation of condensing units; high and low voltage connections, proper position of service disconnect. Correct high voltage wire and circuit breaker sizing per equipment specs
• Brazing techniques, nitrogen pressure testing & evacuation/dehydration of new HVAC equipment; lines sets/filter drier installation; condensate drain lines
• Charging and testing the system to be sure it is operating according to manufacturers' specification; Superheat/Subcooling requirements
• Ability to locate leaks in the refrigerant system and correct.
• Set up thermostat for proper equipment communication
• Testing of equipment/accessories upon completion of installation
• Professional and polite communication with customer, during and after the installation is complete, to ensure they are comfortable with the operation of their new system.

Salary Range:

Hourly - $25 - $30
