HVAC Installation Manager

Johnson Controls is a global organization focused on helping customers deliver safer, smarter, and more sustainable buildings. In this role, you will help lead branch installation delivery across Controls, Equipment, and Mechanical teams, supporting strong customer outcomes, operational excellence, and a culture grounded in safety and integrity.

Role Overview

Under general direction, the HVAC Branch Installation Manager manages branch delivery teams and supports the successful execution of installation work from planning through completion. This role partners closely with senior leadership to balance performance, financial results, resource planning, and customer satisfaction while ensuring work is completed safely, ethically, and in compliance with applicable requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the overall execution and performance of assigned Controls and Mechanical Installation delivery teams.
  • Support revenue forecasting, billings, collections, resource planning, and cost control for the branch.
  • Assign projects and ensure the appropriate engineering, commissioning, and mechanical resources are deployed.
  • Manage branch priorities related to cash flow, backlog growth, project slippage reduction, productivity, SG&A, and succession planning.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, customers, consultants, and subcontractors in the community.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain Project Team Leaders, System Team Leaders, Lead Systems Specialists, Project Engineers, and Equipment System Application Engineers.
  • Support scheduling for installation projects and equipment backlog, including want dates and ship dates.
  • Coach teams on project risk management, conflict resolution, and recovery planning.
  • Promote the securing of change orders and support customer satisfaction issue resolution.
  • Ensure work performed complies with state, local, and federal requirements, as well as branch safety standards and ethical expectations.
  • Partner with senior leadership on annual strategic and financial operating plans.
  • Review contract terms and conditions with project, sales, and engineering teams as needed.
How You Will Do It

You will own outcomes with accountability, safety, and integrity by setting clear expectations, following through on commitments, and ensuring work is delivered to the right standard. You will stay close to the work and remove obstacles for customers by understanding project conditions, aligning resources quickly, and addressing issues before they affect delivery. You will improve every day through candid problem-solving by tracking performance trends, identifying root causes, and supporting practical recovery plans where needed. You will win as one team by building trust across Sales, Project, Engineering, and field teams and by valuing diverse perspectives in decision‑making. Use estimating and engineering standards effectively to support consistent execution across the branch. Establish goals and development plans for direct reports and reinforce strong performance through coaching and feedback. Monitor asset management activities such as billings, collections, payables, and cost discipline. Keep customer satisfaction top of mind and drive timely resolution when issues arise. Support the senior installation manager in planning, staffing, and financial execution for the branch.
