Job summary

Roth Home, part of TurnPoint Services, is seeking motivated individuals to join an HVAC apprentice program in the Portland area. You’ll receive paid, hands-on training in a state-of-the-art facility, learn from experienced professionals, and build a foundation for a lasting HVAC career.

You’ll participate in classroom and fieldwork, develop technical skills in installation, maintenance, and safety, and advance toward becoming a licensed HVAC technician within a supportive, growth-focused

Qualifications

• You can have completed a trade school program, earned a degree or certification, or be mechanically inclined with a passion for problem-solving.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and explain concepts clearly to customers and team members.
• Comfort with computers, data entry, spreadsheets, and word processing software.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead HVAC technicians with installation, maintenance, and repair of residential and commercial heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
• Attend apprenticeship classes, achieving passing grades in classroom and hands-on training assessments.
• Learn and apply proper use of tools, equipment, and safety procedures on job sites.
• Measure, cut, and assemble ductwork, piping, and related components, supporting setup and testing.
• Troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance under guidance, including electrical, refrigerant, and airflow systems.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas, tools, and vehicles while adhering to safety standards.
• Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and customers in a professional, friendly manner.
• Participate in ongoing hands-on training to build technical knowledge and progress toward licensure.
• Work closely with experienced technicians to gain field experience and grow skills.

What You Bring

• You bring strong communication skills, with the ability to read and interpret technical documents and explain concepts clearly to customers and team members.
• You have solid mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, ratios, percentages, and the ability to interpret bar graphs.
• Your excellent problem-solving and reasoning abilities, with the capacity to troubleshoot issues, make sound decisions, helps to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
• You are comfortable using computers and technology, including data entry, spreadsheets, and word processing software.
• Physical stamina and adaptability, able to lift and maneuver heavy equipment, work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, and safely climb ladders or scaffolding.
• You have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn from experienced journeymen while growing your skills in the heating, air and ventilation trade.

Key Responsibilities
