Job summary

EMCOR Services Aircond is seeking a Field Supervisor to manage daily field operations in the Charlotte, NC area. The role balances hands-on HVAC technician duties with supervisory responsibilities, ensuring safety and quality across service calls, repairs, and smaller contract scopes.

The candidate will lead a team of technicians, provide technical support, assist with training plans, and participate in safety and performance reviews. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in HVAC field operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• EPA Universal Certification is required.
• OSHA 10 or 30 Certification preferred.
• High school diploma or GED; HVAC training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and on-the-job training to service technicians; be available for technical support after hours.
• Lead safety initiatives; conduct weekly site safety inspections and ensure safe work practices.
• Assist with technician reviews and annual performance evaluations.
• Coordinate with DSM and BDM for large quotes and project proposals.
• Ensure balanced workload among technicians and manage contract hours vs. billable time.
• Interview and hire new technicians; contribute to training plans and safety meetings.
• Support field operations by coordinating with project managers, subcontractors, and clients.

Job Title: HVAC -Field Supervisor

Job Location: Charlotte, NC and surrounding metro area

Job Summary:Work closely with the District Service Manager managing the daily field operations of the group. Will handle a small agreement base that they will be responsible for performing pm and repairs, additionally catching reactive service calls when required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• 50% of time will be spent on traditional technician duties, the remaining 50% on Field Supervisor duties listed below. Will also depend on group size and needs.
• Provide leadership, technical support and on the job training to service technicians. (Be available by phone for technical support after hours)
• Assist with the training plan for each technician.
• Perform weekly site safety inspections. Field Supervisor to rotate through the technician group. (DSM to do 1/month)
• Perform field quality inspections.
• Perform annual truck inspections for technicians.
• Perform annual ladder inspections.
• Attend monthly safety committee meetings.
• Lead safety effort among technicians. Constantly stress the need for safe work practices and adherence to the “Aircond Golden Rules.”
• Fill in for DSM when DSM is unavailable due to meetings or PTO.
• 1st Line of contact from Dispatch in assigning calls that come in if the primary tech is unavailable or if the call is non-contract.
• Provide input to DSM for annual technician reviews.
• Participate in the annual technician reviews.
• Assist BDM with sales meetings and surveys on smaller unitary sites. (DSM involved with any Applied jobs or Full Maintenance contracts) DSM will always approve BDM contract proposals.
• Work with other Field Supervisors and the DSM to share resources among groups as needed.
• Work with the DSM to help prepare large quotes.
• Ensure each technician has a balanced workload (i.e., good balance between contract hours and available time for billable work)
• Discuss technicians schedule and promote safety on Monday morning weekly meeting.
• Provide input on technical issues for DSM training during safety meetings.
• Help interview and hire new technicians.
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in HVAC field operations, with at least 2 years in a
• supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, installation practices, and building codes.
• Experience working on retrofit projects.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• OSHA certification preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in HVAC preferred
• 5+ years of HVAC field experience, with 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role
• Experience managing commercial or industrial HVAC projects is highly preferred

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, installation practices, and mechanical codes
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents
• Familiarity with project management tools and basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, scheduling software)

Certifications

• EPA Universal Certification required
• OSHA 10 or 30 Certification preferred
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Leadership & Communication

• Proven ability to lead and manage field crews
• Strong communication skills for coordinating with project managers, clients, and subcontractors
• Ability to resolve conflicts, make decisions under pressure, and maintain productivity

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to climb ladders, lift and carry 50 or more pounds, distinguish colors for electrical work and tolerate confined spaces. Work will involve heights and seasonal temperature extremes. Proper use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is required while performing tasks.
