Job summary

Hanwha Philly Shipyard is seeking an HVAC Production Engineer to resolve production and regulatory issues, interfacing with production, planning, procurement, and design partners. About 50% field work and 50% office work will be required.

The role involves designing changes, reviewing drawings and BOMs, and supporting regulatory interactions with USCG and other agencies throughout vessel construction. Training and collaboration across teams are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Naval Architecture; or an Associate’s degree with 4 years’ shipbuilding experience.
• Proficiency with MS Office and 2D CAD systems such as AutoCAD.
• Proficiency with the metric system.
• At least 2 years of HVAC design/installation experience.
• Experience with 3D CAD (Aveva PDMS/Marine or Tribon) is a plus.
• ERP experience, e.g., SAP, is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform field engineering for HVAC/refrigeration systems, including onboard investigations and documentation.
• Review and approve drawings, BOMs, and changes; ensure accuracy with design and yard standards.
• Create and distribute engineering work packages per schedule; support owner change orders.
• Interface with class, USCG, FDA, and regulatory agencies to resolve inspections/requirements.
• Assist with startup, commissioning, dock tests, and sea trials for HVAC systems.
• Collaborate with planning and production to sequence installation of accommodation and insulation.
