Job summary

The Bachrach Group in Farmingdale, NY is seeking an HVAC Estimator to join a growing mechanical contracting team. This fast-paced role requires managing bids for up to 30 projects while maintaining accuracy and deadlines.

We welcome junior and experienced estimators who understand HVAC systems, construction estimating, and competitive bidding. You will review drawings, perform take-offs, and collaborate with project managers and vendors to submit competitive bids.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and competitive HVAC cost estimates for commercial and residential projects.
• Manage a high-volume bidding pipeline of up to 30 active projects simultaneously.
• Prioritize bid deadlines while ensuring accuracy and timely submissions.
• Review drawings, specs, blueprints, and bid documents.
• Perform quantity take-offs for HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping, controls, and materials.
• Solicit and compare vendor and subcontractor pricing.
• Analyze labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs to develop proposals.
• Prepare and submit bids and proposals within deadlines.
• Identify value-engineering opportunities and alternatives.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Support project handoffs with accurate estimating docs and cost breakdowns.
• Maintain bid logs, estimating records, and historical data.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed.

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated HVAC Estimator to join a growing mechanical contracting team in Farmingdale, NY.

This is a fast-paced, high-volume estimating position requiring the ability to manage bids for up to 30 projects at any given time while maintaining accuracy, organization, and strict deadlines.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of HVAC systems, construction estimating, and competitive bidding. We are open to both junior-level estimators looking to advance their careers and experienced estimators who can independently manage a high-volume bidding workload.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and competitive HVAC cost estimates for commercial and residential projects.
• Manage a high-volume bidding pipeline of up to 30 active projects simultaneously.
• Prioritize multiple bid deadlines while ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely submissions.

Preferred Experience

• Background working for an HVAC or mechanical contractor.
• Familiarity with Long Island and NYC construction markets and building codes.
• Experience with union and non-union labor estimating.
• Knowledge of value engineering, cost analysis, and competitive bid preparation.
• Experience managing a large volume of simultaneous bids and proposals.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are considering candidates at different experience levels:

A developing estimator with a solid understanding of HVAC systems, construction drawings, and estimating fundamentals. Must be organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple bids while continuing to develop technical expertise.

Experienced / Senior HVAC Estimator — Up to $100K

An established HVAC estimator with demonstrated experience independently preparing competitive bids, managing a high-volume estimating pipeline, and consistently meeting deadlines. Must be comfortable handling up to 30 active bidding opportunities at a time.
