Job summary

Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. is seeking an HVAC Engineer for a new Nuclear Fuel Facility in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

The role focuses on ventilation, heating, cooling and air handling, with emphasis on safety, confinement, and maintainability. The engineer will develop and review HVAC deliverables, coordinate with process equipment, piping, electrical, and safety teams, and support commissioning and turnover activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or architectural engineering with 5+ years of HVAC experience on regulated facilities.
• Experience with nuclear or high-consequence ventilation systems and equipment sizing.
• Ability to read HVAC drawings, P&IDs, duct layouts, and vendor data.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review HVAC calculations, airflow diagrams, and equipment sizing.
• Coordinate ventilation systems with process equipment and safety requirements.
• Review vendor submittals for HVAC components and interfaces.
• Support design reviews, hazard reviews, and commissioning planning.
• Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, and field change documents.
• Maintain configuration control and clear communication with project leadership.
• Collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines and construction teams.
• Ensure compliance with nuclear safety standards and regulatory requirements.
