The Electrician HVAC will install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain various electrical systems, controls, and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain main electrical distribution panels, lugs, and connections on commercial HVAC equipment.
- Install building systems and components, including supporting panels and/or main disconnects.
- Maintain amperage loads on HVAC and other building equipment to ensure accurate loads at supporting panels or main disconnects.
- Maintain conduit and electrical assemblies for HVAC supporting panels or main disconnects.
- Install, repair, replace, modify, load, and test electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, panels, switches, breakers, and controls.
- Use and maintain hand and power tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, soldering irons, cable pullers, hydraulic benders, and pipe threading machines.
- Complete and return work orders properly upon completion.
- Support the project safety plan through active involvement, including training and adherence to safety requirements.
- This position may be designated as mission-critical, requiring availability during inclement weather or lockdown conditions.
- May be part of an emergency management/response team as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum five (5) years of field experience at the journeyman level or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with hands and knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and practices in facilities maintenance.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Skill in using tools and equipment relevant to the trades involved.
- Ability to interpret verbal and written technical descriptions, drawings, floor plans, schematics, and blueprints.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable laws and standards.
- Familiarity with electrical test equipment and appliances.
- Experience maintaining industrial or commercial electrical systems, preferably supporting preventive maintenance programs.
- Ability to perform related shop mathematics and interpret building plans and diagrams.
- Facilities maintenance experience.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Physical Demands: The physical requirements include regular sitting, talking, hearing, and repeated motions involving arms, wrists, hands, and fingers. Occasional walking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/moving up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision.
