Job Summary:


The Dean of Trades acts as the academic lead for specific programs across campuses and modalities with shared accountability for curriculum development, faculty readiness to deliver the curriculum, development and implementation of initiatives, continuous program review, planning, and general effectiveness and operation of the Trades programs.


Responsibilities:



  • Provides academic leadership to the trades programs in areas of curriculum, faculty, and pursuit of continuous improvement, including new course development, curriculum assessment and course redevelopment, and externship experiences

  • Participates in assessment at the program and course levels; convening program faculty; research and integration of best industry practices; and leading efforts to prepare discipline faculty to effectively deliver curriculum

  • Partners with Academic Technology in new course development and curriculum redesign, including selection of instructional resources and development of assessments

  • Partners with Program and Department Chairs to establish laboratory and software standards to teach program competencies; assists with preparation of new laboratories and review of relevant software; and monitors campus adherence to standards

  • Partners with Academic Deans to assure trades faculty are prepared to effectively deliver the approved curriculum for their programs, manage Program Review process and provides analysis to key stakeholders

  • Partners with Academic Deans to engages faculty and program chairs in assessment of student outcomes and performance as well as development of improvement initiatives

  • Regularly convening program faculty for sharing practices and training; and supporting the program chairs in upholding academic and accreditation standards and assures feedback relative to course quality is incorporated into course improvement planning

  • Assists campuses with new program rollout from proposal preparation to enrollment of students

  • Keeps current on national and state regulations and on changes in the industry that impact the programs

  • Other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications:



  • Master's Degree, preferred in building or skilled trades discipline, engineering, education or other related discipline

  • 5+ years' experience teaching in a trades discipline at a post-secondary institution

  • 3+ years of academic leadership experience

  • Experience delivering instruction in a learning management system and using academic technology (simulations, adaptive learning tools, integration of micro learning elements into presentations, etc.)

  • Competency in MS Office (Excel Power Point, Word, and Outlook)


Preferred Qualifications:



  • PhD

  • Previous Career College experience
