Job summary

JM Mechanical in Utah is seeking a dependable HVAC Duct Fabricator to join the shop team. You will fabricate, assemble, and prepare ductwork and sheet metal components for installation, reading drawings, and using hand and power tools.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and capable of working safely with shop equipment. Training occurs during daytime hours, with a night shift schedule after training.

Qualifications

  • Experience in HVAC sheet metal fabrication preferred.
  • Ability to read drawings and job specs.
  • Detail-oriented with quality focus.
  • Reliable attendance and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and assemble HVAC ductwork and sheet metal components per drawings.
  • Measure, mark, cut, bend, and assemble ductwork.
  • Build elbows, transitions, dampers, and plenums.
  • Operate brakes, shears, plasma cutters, and other shop tools.
  • Install liner, insulation, sealants, and fasteners as needed.
  • Inspect ductwork for accuracy, fit, and quality.
  • Prepare and load ductwork for delivery to job sites.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, organized shop and follow PPE rules.

Job description

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM-12:00 AM

Training: Initial training will be completed during daytime hours. Candidates must be available for daytime training before transitioning to the regular night shift.

Pay: $16.00

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and hardworking HVAC Duct Fabricator to join our shop team. This position will fabricate, assemble, and prepare HVAC ductwork and sheet metal components for installation. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Fabricate and assemble HVAC ductwork and sheet metal components according to measurements, drawings, and job specifications.
  • Measure, mark, cut, bend, and assemble sheet metal and ductwork.
  • Build duct fittings including elbows, transitions, offsets, dampers, and plenums.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, brakes, shears, plasma cutters, and other shop equipment.
  • Install duct liner, insulation, sealants, fasteners, and other materials as needed.
  • Inspect completed ductwork for accuracy, quality, and proper fit.
  • Prepare, label, organize, and load completed ductwork for delivery to job sites.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Assist with other shop and fabrication duties as needed.
Qualifications
  • HVAC, sheet metal, duct fabrication, construction, or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform basic measurements.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Comfortable using hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to read and follow drawings and instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to safely lift and move ductwork and materials.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, reach, and work for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver ductwork and materials.
  • Ability to work safely around machinery, sharp sheet metal, noise, and typical shop conditions.

This is a full-time night shift position, Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM-12:00 AM. Initial training will be conducted during daytime hours, so daytime availability is required during the training period.
