Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States is seeking an experienced HVAC Controls Technician to install, commission, and maintain building automation systems.

You will diagnose issues, support HVAC technicians, and mentor junior staff while ensuring safety and code compliance. Applicants should have strong knowledge of Niagara N4/AX, BACnet/IP, Modbus, and related protocols; EPA Universal preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Associate’s Degree or technical HVAC certification preferred.
• 3+ years of HVAC controls experience with increasing responsibility.
• Niagara N4 and/or Niagara AX Certification preferred.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Experience with BACnet MST/IP, LON, Modbus TCP/RTU, Ethernet OIP, MQTT, or SQL.
• EPA Universal Technician Certification preferred.
• OSHA 10 certification preferred.
• First aid/CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide responsive and professional customer service to build long-term relationships.
• Identify, analyze, diagnose, and troubleshoot direct digital control systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance, commissioning, and replacement modifications.
• Maintain building automation systems by inspecting logs, reports, schedules, and hardware.
• Provide controls technical support to HVAC technicians.
• Create/implement programming and graphics for new installations and retrofit projects.
• Commission control installations and verify sequences meet design/specs.
• Provide training and follow-ups for customers and operations staff.
• Complete work orders and review with customers for accuracy.
• Continually seek process improvements to better serve customers.
• Participate in on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Provide responsive and professional customer service with the goal of building and maintaining long-term customer relationships
• Identify, analyze, diagnose, and troubleshoot direct digital control systems
• Perform preventative maintenance, commissioning, and replacement modifications as needed or requested by customers
• Maintain building automation systems by inspecting trend logs, reports, schedules, applications, hardware, and programming
• Provide controls technical support to HVAC technicians
• Create and/or implement programming and graphics for new installations and retrofit projects
• Commission controls installations and verify that control sequences meet scope, design, or specifications
• Provide training and follow-ups for customers and operations personnel
• Complete work orders and review with customers for accuracy
• Continually look for ways to improve our processes and ability to serve our customers effectively
• Participate in on‑call rotation

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Associate’s Degree or technical school HVAC certification (preferred)
• 3+ years of related HVAC controls experience with increasing responsibility or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Niagara N4 and/or Niagara AX Certification (preferred)
• Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
• Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district
• Rotational Emergency Call Support availability as required
• Previous experience in mentoring less experienced technicians
• Experience with any common integration protocols such as: BACnet MST / IP, LON, Modbus TCP / RTU, Ethernet OIP, MQTT, or SQL
• EPA approved Universal Technician Certification (preferred)
• OSHA 10 certification (preferred)
• Current first aid / CPR card (preferred)
