Job description

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Controls Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of HVAC control systems, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), building automation systems (BAS), and temperature control systems. This role is vital to ensuring optimal performance, energy efficiency, and comfort in commercial and industrial HVAC systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation & Commissioning: Install, configure, and calibrate HVAC control systems, including sensors, controllers, and related devices. Ensure systems are properly integrated with the overall HVAC system.
  • Maintenance & Repairs: Perform regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC control systems, sensors, and associated components. Identify and address control issues to minimize downtime and maintain system performance.
  • Programming & Diagnostics: Program HVAC control systems (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, or other protocols) to meet system specifications. Use diagnostic tools and software to monitor system performance and optimize control sequences.
  • Troubleshooting & Calibration: Use diagnostic tools and test equipment to identify and correct issues with HVAC controls, including sensor calibration and system performance analysis.
  • System Optimization: Conduct system audits to ensure controls are operating efficiently and in accordance with building requirements. Make recommendations for system upgrades or improvements to enhance energy efficiency and performance.
  • System Integration: Work closely with other HVAC technicians, engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of control systems with other building systems (e.g., lighting, fire alarm, and security systems).
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including service reports, calibration data, and system configurations. Provide detailed documentation for system changes or upgrades.
  • Customer Support & Training: Provide on-site training for building operators and clients on HVAC control system operation and troubleshooting. Offer technical support as needed to address system issues or concerns.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in HVAC, Controls Systems, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in HVAC controls or building automation systems.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC equipment, including heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
  • Experience with control systems programming (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, or similar protocols) and automation systems (e.g., Tridium, Honeywell, Johnson Controls).
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, voltmeters, and other test equipment.
  • Familiarity with control system software and interfaces.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various job sites.
  • EPA certification
