Job summary

EMCOR Group, a full-service HVAC, building automation, chiller and retrofit contractor, seeks an Applications Engineer in California. You will read floor plans, identify equipment such as chillers, boilers, pumps, AHUs, FCUs, VAVs and EF’s, and assist in developing control submittals with senior engineers.

Responsibilities include using AutoCAD/Visio, understanding 24VAC circuits, and applying NEC requirements. A strong foundation in engineering and HVAC controls is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of relevant experience; applications engineering preferred.
• Engineering skills include electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and programming.
• Working knowledge of HVAC control systems (Delta, JCI or Andover).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with control system architecture design, programming, or maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Read and identify mechanical equipment on floor plans.
• The ability to identify mechanical equipment on drawings: Chillers, Boilers, Pumps, AHU's, FCU's, VAV's, and EF's.
• Understand basic electrical control circuits including 24VAC power and controller inputs/outputs.
• Be proficient with Visio and AutoCAD.
• Understand simple controls networking principles.
• Create P&ID's based on contract drawings.
• Develop controls submittals with assistance from senior level application engineers.
• Understand simple installation methods.
• Ability to implement systems graphics per project scope.
• Create guidelines, standards and templates for typical projects.
• Basic knowledge of NEC requirements for control system installations.
