Job summary

EMCOR Group seeks a detail-oriented HVAC Controls Design Drafter for our New York City team. You will produce precise schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts for BMS/BAS projects, collaborate with engineers, and update floorplans and SVGs as needed.

The role requires AutoCAD proficiency, familiarity with HVAC and building automation disciplines, and strong communication. This is an in-office, full-time position based in NYC with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of AutoCAD drafting experience in HVAC, building automation, or electrical schematics.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit/BIM knowledge is a strong plus.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical plans, electrical schematics, and architectural blueprints.
• Familiarity with low-voltage electrical circuits, relay logic, and standard HVAC equipment.
• Strong computer skills; MS Office experience is a plus.
• Team player with a willingness to learn and grow.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive control schematics, floorplan drawings, wiring diagrams, and system layouts for building automation systems.
• Create, modify, and manage AutoCAD drawings in line with guidelines.
• Interpret specifications to generate I/O summaries and integrate operation sequences into design sheets.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and field technicians to resolve design changes before installation.
• Maintain organized project files, track revisions, and prepare submittal packages.
