Job summary

Chesapeake Controls, Inc. is seeking an experienced HVAC Service & Controls Technician to install, maintain, and optimize HVAC systems.

Ideal candidates live in the Richmond or Newport News area and bring expertise in controls design and programming, with strong troubleshooting skills and customer-service focus. The role requires 3+ years in HVAC controls or BAS, knowledge of BAS platforms, and the ability to read electrical schematics.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience with HVAC controls or BAS.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC equipment and control strategies.
• Experience troubleshooting control networks and field devices.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and control drawings.
• Familiarity with BAS platforms (Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Trane, or similar).
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair HVAC control systems and BAS.
• Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC controls and related equipment.
• Calibrate sensors, actuators, and controllers.
• Install/modify control components and wiring as needed.
• Interface with building owners, facility teams, and project managers.
• Interpret control drawings and sequences of operation.
• Commission and verify system performance after repairs or upgrades.
• Maintain service documentation and reports.
• Ensure safety standards and procedures are followed.
• Maintain HVAC system manuals and maintenance records.
• Conduct training sessions for maintenance personnel and end-users.
• Respond to emergency calls and resolve critical issues.
