Job description

Join to apply for the HVAC Control Technician role at UC Davis Clinical and Translational Science Center

Under general supervision, perform master journey-level work in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning trade involving the installation, diagnosis, troubleshooting, programming, and repair of electrical, pneumatic, electronic, and computerized control systems. Responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring new BAS control strategies to improve energy efficiency, facilities operations, and customer satisfaction. The work involves reading and interpreting blueprints, HVAC system diagrams, and specifications, isolating problems, and installing and calibrating controls and equipment accordingly. The incumbent will be the lead responder for reports of 'out of range' conditions in critical patient care areas. Monitor and modify control systems and software to ensure optimal functionality and reliability, and communicate issues appropriately.

Qualifications
  • Valid California driver's license and compliance with local policies; enrollment in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.
  • Certificate of completion from a recognized apprenticeship, trade school, or equivalent experience in HVAC Controls or Building Automation.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in controls/building automation systems, HVAC, facilities, or energy management, preferably on a hospital campus.
  • Experience with energy metering and metrics.
  • Experience in healthcare or research laboratory environments.
  • Ability to perform all functions of HVAC Control trades in a healthcare setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Building Automation Technology, HVAC, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
  • Experience with energy monitoring and building automation systems.
  • Knowledge of BAS system software and hardware, installation, calibration, and configuration.
  • Familiarity with systems like Johnson Controls, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Niagra, Phoenix Controls.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of SQL and database management is desirable.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to multitask, work independently, and resolve issues with minimal guidance.

Plant Operations & Maintenance manages the operation, repair, and maintenance of buildings, systems, and grounds at UC Davis Health System, covering 148 acres and 4 million GMSF.

Position Details
  • Salary Range: $42.42-$50.69/hour
  • Full-time, 100% on-site, Shift: M-F 6:45am-3:15pm, with shift bidding based on seniority.
