Job summary

Edwards Electrical & Mechanical Inc. is seeking motivated individuals to join our HVAC installation team on commercial projects in Indianapolis.

You will assist with rooftop units, ductwork, and associated components, reading blueprints and project specs, and supporting startups and commissioning. Responsibilities include adhering to safety policies, maintaining documentation, and coordinating with the construction team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Enrollment in HVAC apprenticeship or trade school preferred.
• OSHA 10 certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the installation of commercial HVAC equipment, including rooftop units, split systems, air handlers, and related components.
• Install and modify ductwork, equipment supports, and HVAC components per project specs.
• Assist with equipment replacements and retrofit installations on commercial construction projects.
• Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, specifications, and installation manuals.
• Perform routine installation tasks independently while seeking guidance on complex assignments.
• Assist with equipment startup, testing, and commissioning.
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality and project specs.
• Maintain accurate documentation of work, materials used, and project progress.
• Coordinate with project managers, foremen, and other trades to support project schedules.
• Maintain tools and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
• Follow safety policies and OSHA regulations on job sites.
• Participate in ongoing technical training and apprenticeship coursework.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Job description

Duties/Responsibilities

• Assistwith the installation of commercial HVAC equipment, including rooftop units (RTUs), split systems, air handlers, condensing units, exhaust fans, make-up air units, VAV boxes, and related mechanical equipment.

• Install andmodifyductwork, equipment supports, and associated HVAC components under project specifications.

• Assistwith equipment replacements and retrofit installations on commercial construction projects.

• Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, specifications, and installation manuals.

• Perform routine installation tasks independently while seeking guidance on more complex assignments.

• Assistwith equipment startup, testing, and commissioning activities.

• Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards and project specifications are met.

• Maintainaccuratedocumentation of work completed, materials used, and project progress.

• Coordinate with project managers,foremen, and other trades to support project schedules.

• Maintain company tools, equipment, and work areas ina cleanand organizedcondition.

• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and job site safety requirements.

• Participate in ongoing technical training and apprenticeship coursework to develop HVAC installation knowledge and skills.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Enrollment in an HVAC apprenticeship or trade school program preferred.

• Previousconstruction, mechanical, or HVAC experience is a plus but notrequired.

• OSHA 10 certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able tolift upto 75 pounds.

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and overhead work.

• Ability to work on rooftops, ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts.

• Ability to work invaryingindoor and outdoor weather conditions.

• Mustpossessthe ability to adjust focus for close-up work, with or without correction.
