Job summary

Engineering Excellence is seeking an HVAC apprentice in Leesport, PA, performing routine maintenance and tune-ups on HVAC systems. You will assist Service Technicians, inspect equipment for issues, and ensure accurate documentation and timely paperwork on a handheld device.

The role requires 0–2 years of HVAC experience with proper training and EPA/safety certifications, and a strong emphasis on safety and customer service. Valid driver’s license may be needed for site visits.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with HVAC training.
  • 0–2 years of HVAC experience with required certifications.
  • EPA certification and safety certifications required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine HVAC maintenance and tune-ups on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment.
  • Assist Service Technicians and inspect equipment to identify potential problems.
  • Record service data on handheld device and complete paperwork accurately.
  • Deliver parts and equipment, and assist with service calls as needed.
  • Maintain safety, PPE use, and comply with company procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service and report status to dispatch.

Welcome!Apprentices, with appropriate training and supervision, will perform equipment maintenance and/or assist with service repairs. Performs all tasks maintaining their personal safety and the safety of their co-workers. Exercises reasonable care and use of tools and equipment. Documents work process hours and attend related training.Key Responsibilities:Works under general supervision to perform maintenance callsPerforms routine precision tune-ups and maintenance on heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment as well as accessories in an accurate and timely mannerInspects and performs limited diagnostics on equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacksCompletes routine maintenance and equipment cleaning as needed or requiredResponsible for delivery and removal of parts and equipment needed to complete service workAssists the Service Technician in servicing heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment as well as accessoriesUsing hand-held device records all required information on customer call. Completes all forms and paperwork in a neat, timely, complete, and accurate manner. If necessary, collects payment from customers.Communicates with dispatch, while on duty, to ensure dispatcher has an accurate status report of activities and availabilityResponsible for delivery of excellent customer service and sustaining high levels of customer satisfactionPromotes products and services to the customer. Calls Sales and Service Coordinator with specifics on replacement product sales leads generated from customer service visit.Ensures company property, vehicles, and tools are being used, maintained, and properly accounted forRepresents the company professionally, honestly, and ethically in all business matters and activitiesFollows standard procedures and process, ensures that the company vehicle is properly stockedPerforms similar/other duties as needed or assignedHealth & Safety Roles and Responsibilities:Reports any unsafe acts, conditions and hazards to direct supervisor/manager immediatelyReports any contravention of legislation or company policy, procedure or program to direct supervisor/manager immediatelyCorrects substandard acts or conditions within area of controlUses and maintains appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as prescribed by company program(s) or procedure(s)Never removes or renders ineffective safety guards, devices, or clothing prescribed to be in place or wornComplies with the general rules as prescribed by company program(s) procedure(s)Operates devises or equipment as prescribed by company program(s) or procedure(s)Participates in any safety initiatives, teams, or committeesReports all injuries or incidents as prescribed by company program(s) or procedure(s) immediatelyProvides input on developing safety initiatives and plans to eliminate exposures that could cause accidentsDoes not perform act that may endanger the safety or well-being of othersDoes not engage in any pranks, contests, or rough boisterous behaviorWorks in compliance with applicable legislative requirementDesired Skills and Qualifications:High school diploma or GED with additional training and 0 to 2 years’ experience in HVAC with technical training certification preferredMust possess all valid licensing or certification as required by federal, state, provincial, or local governmental laws or regulations for the geographical work areaEPA and safety certifications requiredBasic knowledge of the fundamentals of the operational functionality of heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment as well as related accessoriesProficient mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate all necessary tools and equipmentProficient and able to operate all necessary tools and equipment to perform various service projectsBasic skills in reading wiring diagrams and troubleshooting problems with electrical, refrigerant and duct systems on air conditioning equipmentEffective communication skills to communicate with customer and resolve customer issues, complaints, or concernsEffective and efficient time-management and organizational skillsValid driver’s license with acceptable driving recordAvailable to work flexible hours and on-call shifts as neededExperience performing basic maintenance work on HVAC equipment and related accessories is desirableAbility to stand and walk and to climb ladders and attic stairs and to maneuver in attics, basements, and crawl spaces to access HVAC units. Ability to continually climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including but not limited to the following: hot, cold, outdoor, indoor, dry, humid, slippery surfaces, heights, and congested areasAbility to safely climb 300lb load capacity rated ladders with a 30lb tool beltNatural or corrected vision to see and focus for close, distance, peripheral vision with normal depth perceptionAbility to lift up to 40 pounds and ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds• Minimum Experience: 0 - 2 years • Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED Equal Opportunity Employer.
