Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR seeks an Overhead Transmission Line Project Engineering Manager to lead high-voltage transmission projects across the U.S. The role focuses on structural design and technical leadership, with responsibility for quality, budget, schedule, and team performance.

You will serve as the responsible engineer, leading multi-disciplinary teams and overseeing the full design lifecycle, coordinating procurement, permitting, real estate, subcontract administration, and construction

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years of transmission line design experience at 69kV+ (500kV+ for extra-high voltage)
• PLS-CADD proficiency; ability to mentor others
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical backgrounds considered)
• P.E. license strongly recommended
• Deep experience in structural design (foundations, framing, materials, loading)
• Experience with steel, wood, laminate, and composite structures; lattice towers a plus
• EPC or design services background supporting U.S. investor-owned utilities

Responsibilities

• Lead responsible engineer on complex overhead transmission projects and manage full design lifecycle
• Coordinate procurement, permitting, real estate/land acquisition, subcontract administration, and construction support
• Lead multi-discipline engineering teams and mentor junior staff
• Oversee engineering quality, budget performance, and schedule adherence
• Serve as engineer of record on large or multi-project assignments
• Provide subject matter expertise in high-voltage routing and structural loading
• Guide foundation and structural design decisions
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and design guides
• Review engineering work products and participate in hiring and performance management
• Engage with clients to understand project drivers and resolve concerns
• Support proposals, estimates and business development efforts
