A Snapshot of Your Day

Based in Childress, Texas, the HV Site Engineer supports the Grid Technologies Service Substation business and ensures safe, environmentally compliant operation of high-voltage substations. The role monitors, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs equipment; recommends service improvements; and supports individual assignments and larger substation or power plant projects.

The role requires travel, flexible schedules, rotating shifts, and overnight on-call coverage in varying field conditions. For alarms or equipment issues, the technician will notify the client and maintenance teams, then work with Siemens engineering specialists to resolve the problem.

This site-based role supports the Childress substation’s safety, reliability, and availability through planned maintenance, rapid fault response, and coordination with customers, contractors, and Siemens specialists.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Supervise and coordinate service activities at job sites, including the work of contractors and field teams.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, fault analysis, and equipment repair using your knowledge and experience.
• Identify and recommend process improvements that strengthen operational performance, customer satisfaction, and compliance with safety requirements.
• Promptly report safety, security, and environmental incidents or near misses, and consistently follow and enforce Siemens environmental, health, and safety policies.
• Complete time, expense, and field service job reports using online tools or software.
• Collaborate with customers and project partners to plan and execute work safely, efficiently, and within scope, including support for proposals, work planning, and workforce requirements.

What You Bring

• Associate degree in electrical technology or electrical engineering, completion of a recognized electrician apprenticeship, a journeyman electrician license, or equivalent military or technical training.
• Substation installation, commissioning, maintenance, or repair experience is preferred. Training may be available to candidates with suitable technical aptitude and strong safety commitment.
• Strong computer and Microsoft Office skills.
• Willingness to travel for training and to accept short-term assignments at other project sites in Texas for upskilling, absence coverage, or major work campaigns.
• Domestic relocation offered for suitably qualified candidates
• Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
