Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Ability to manage emotional aspects of end-of-life services.
• Criminal background check required on hire.

Responsibilities

• Receive, evaluate and respond to complaints of animal cruelty.
• Enter case information into Chameleon.
• Maintain a daily activity report.
• Impound, assist with impoundment, or seize animals as required.
• Collect and store evidence and submit for testing as needed.
• Photograph and document potential crime scenes.
• Photograph and assist with veterinary exams and necropsies.
• Conduct interviews with suspects and witnesses.
• Prepare case reports for DA, Police/Sheriff or other agencies.
• Testify in court or at seizure hearings for cruelty or neglect cases.
• Prepare and execute search warrants and notices; educate the public.
• Assist the public with reporting non-cruelty or neglect situations.
• Train staff on cruelty/neglect reporting procedures.
• Assist Animal Rescue & Control Department as needed.
• Assist law enforcement agencies as necessary.
• Provide humane care for all animals in our care.
• Work with other departments; assist with kenneling during large impounds.
• Log and update case status on the weekly snapshot.
• Prepare statistical data related to cruelty investigations.
