Description

The Division of Prevention and Quality Improvement, Chronic Disease Prevention Branch, Disease Management Section seeks a highly motivated, skilled, self-starter who is passionate about impacting Kentuckians' lives.The Disease Management Section seeks a Human Services Program Supervisor who can provide clinical knowledgeand expertise to support the Asthma Management, Diabetes Prevention, and Heart Disease and Stroke Preventionprograms. This position will serve as a leader who motivates, supports, and encourages this high-functioningteam that addresses diseases that impact citizens across our state.

The Disease Management Section combines federal grant funding resources with state funding in collaboration with the Cabinet for Health andFamily Services, private, and public stakeholders to implement data-driven, scientifically founded programs and resources.

Responsibilities
  • Performs as an essential team member to the department, division, and branch, responsible for budgetary, contract, and personnel activities on behalf of the Section.
  • Collaborates with the Branch Manager and Program Leaders on policies related to the function of the Disease Management Section programs.
  • Provides overall staff management, including supervision and monitoring of program status through reports, staff meetings, and onsite visits.
  • Represents the Section in leadership meetings and meetings with stakeholders.
  • Reviews relative state and federal policy and may be asked to evaluate the impact of policy on programs within the section.
  • Provides clinical and technical assistance to supervisors, employees, and contract program managers and staff.
  • Evaluates the performance of employees, oversees work schedules, and ensures efficient and effective operations.
  • Requests and oversees the preparation of grant and statutory reports, annual or biannual, by specialrequest and the maintenance of required records.
  • Interprets and enforces rules and policies.
Skills and abilities
  • Experience as a Registered Nurse dealing with chronic diseases or related morbidities.
  • Be an organized worker who communicates effectively in written and oral situations.
  • Be a self-starter and able to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and related programs.
  • Budget development, budget management, and grant writing skills are a plus.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:

Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:

Four years of professional experience in the administration of human services programs, emergency management services, emergency medical technician, paramedic, or related field.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:

A master's degree in social work, health administration, labor relations, public or business administration or related field will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:

Administrative or business experience, or professional, subprofessional, or clerical work in a human services area, emergency management services, emergency medical technician, paramedic, or related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Probationary Period
