Job summary

Latham Centers, Inc. offers flexible internships in our Residential Children's Program based in Brewster, MA, designed for students in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Education, Nursing, or related fields.

Interns gain hands-on experience as part of an interdisciplinary team, with opportunities to attend IEP meetings, observe clinical services, shadow nursing and behavioral health professionals, and engage in learning activities tailored to your goals.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience with children, individuals with disabilities, or in human services settings is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to students in residential, educational, and community settings.
  • Assist students in developing daily living, social, communication, and independent living skills.
  • Serve as a positive role model and maintain professional relationships with students.
  • Support implementation of individualized educational, treatment, and behavior support plans.
  • Supervise and engage students during classroom activities, residential programming, recreational activities, and community outings.
  • Ensure the safety and well‑being of students on campus and in community settings.
  • Collect, record, and maintain accurate documentation related to student progress and behavior.
  • Collaborate with teachers, residential staff, clinicians, nurses, and other interdisciplinary team members.
  • Assist in maintaining safe, organized, and therapeutic learning and living environments.
  • Respond appropriately to challenging behaviors and participate in approved crisis intervention procedures when necessary.
  • Attend required trainings and maintain required certifications.
  • Observe and participate in interdisciplinary meetings, treatment planning activities, and professional shadowing opportunities.
  • Follow all agency policies, procedures, confidentiality requirements, and behavior management protocols

Compensation: $20.20 per hour

Location: Brewster, MA

Requirements
