Job summary

New Hanover County is seeking a detail oriented, customer focused Human Services Caseworker Supervisor to lead a unit of caseworkers in the Childcare/Work First Team. The role requires strong knowledge of Work First and Childcare policies and NC Fast proficiency to troubleshoot systems and manage payments.

Job description

New Hanover County is seeking a detail oriented, customer focused Human Services Caseworker Supervisor supervising a unit of caseworkers in the Childcare/Work First Team. The ideal candidate will have detailed knowledge of Work First and Childcare policy, the ability to troubleshoot in the NC Fast system for both programs, have NC Fast knowledge to link/delink providers, and be able to process over and underpayments. Additional responsibilities will include running weekly and monthly reports in both the NC Fast System and Datawarehouse, responding to provider inquiries regarding payment discrepancies, and will be able to effectively communicate with community partners such as Smart Start and NC Pre-K.

Hours:

8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday.

Must be available to report for emergency work assignments during emergency situations.

Salary Information:

Thetarget hiring range for this position is $53,668 - $72,451. The full salary range for an incumbent hired into this position is $53,668 - $91,234. Starting salary will be based on qualifications, relevant experience, internal equity, and budget. Candidates with exceptional qualifications and experience may be considered for a starting salary above the target hiring range, but not to exceed the maximum of the salary range.

High School Diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of universal, economic services or income maintenance caseworker experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the specific position as listed above.

NC FAST proficiency and previous supervisory experience is preferred.

In compliance with G.S. 153A-94.2(b), if this position requires an applicant for employment to work with children in any capacity, the county must require the applicant to undergo a criminal history record check conducted by the SBI for all offers of employment made after October 1, 2025. These checks must be performed in accordance with G.S. 143B-1209.26, which authorizes the SBI to provide fingerprint-based state and national criminal record checks to cities and counties. Additional information on how to complete this required check will be provided to the selected candidate after an offer of employment is accepted.
