Every day, people around the world are dealing with crises most of us only encounter through headlines.
Conflict. Displacement. Hunger. Natural disasters. Inequality. Communities struggling to access food, healthcare, safety and basic human rights.
Behind those headlines are real people - and organizations working every day to help.
Your job is to get people to stop, listen and care enough to take action.
Public Outreach is hiring passionate, outgoing people to join ourNorth Hollywood fundraising team, representing nonprofit organizations working on humanitarian relief, human rights and social-impact issues.
You’ll speak directly with members of the public, tell the stories behind important causes, and inspire people to become long‑term monthly donors.
No fundraising experience is required.
What matters more is that you can connect with people, communicate with conviction and aren’t afraid to stand up for something you believe in.
The nonprofit campaigns our teams represent address some of the world’s most urgent challenges.
Depending on your campaign, you could be raising awareness and support for work involving:
Campaign assignments can change, but the purpose of the work doesn’t:
Helping nonprofit organizations build the public support they need to keep doing their work.
We’ll give you the training, campaign knowledge and coaching you need to represent each organization confidently and accurately.
This isn’t a desk job.
You’ll work outdoors with a partner or team in busy areas throughout Los Angeles, starting conversations with people from all walks of life.
You’ll learn how to:
You’re not expected to know how to do all of this on your first day.
That’s what paid training and coaching are for.
You’re the person who actually wants to talk about what’s happening in the world.
Maybe you’ve volunteered, organized, advocated for something you believe in, studied social issues, worked with people, performed on stage, taught, served tables, led a team – or you’re simply very good at connecting with strangers.
Backgrounds that often translate well include:
But none of those are requirements.
We’re much more interested in whether you’recurious, resilient, coachable and comfortable talking to people.
We’d rather be upfront about that.
Street fundraising is active, outdoor and performance-based.
You’ll spend much of your shift standing, walking and approaching people you don’t know.
Some people will be excited to talk to you.
Others will walk straight past you.
You’ll hear “no” far more often than “yes.”
And you’ll be expected to work toward clear fundraising goals.
But when someone does stop, listens to what you have to say and decides to support a cause because of the conversation you started, you’ll know exactly what your work accomplished.
Your starting wage is$20/hour guaranteed. This is not a commission‑only position.
We’re actively interviewing for our North Hollywood team.
If there’s a strong mutual fit after your interview, you may be invited to a paid trial shift that same week so you can meet the team and experience the job for yourself.
Our teams include members of the LGBTQ+ community, and we’re committed to creating a workplace where people from all backgrounds feel safe, respected and comfortable being themselves.
You don’t need to come to us as a professional fundraiser.
Come with something you care about, the confidence to start a conversation and the willingness to learn.
We’ll teach you the rest.
