Care about human rights, humanitarian aid, equality, or helping people affected by conflict and poverty?
Turn that passion into work you can actually do every day.
Public Outreach is hiring passionate, outgoing people to join our NYC fundraising team and represent leading nonprofit organizations working to protect human rights, respond to humanitarian emergencies, fight poverty and inequality, and support children and families facing crisis.
No fundraising experience is required.
We're looking for people who care about what's happening in the world, enjoy connecting with others, and want their work to contribute to something meaningful.
This is face-to-face fundraising.
You'll work with a team throughout NYC, speaking directly with members of the public about important humanitarian and human-rights campaigns.
You'll:
This isn't petitioning or volunteer work.
You'll be asking people directly to financially support nonprofit organizations through monthly donations.
Depending on your campaign, your conversations may involve:
Campaign assignments can change over time, but the mission remains similar: helping nonprofit organizations build the public support they need to create meaningful change.
You don't need a nonprofit background or a degree in international relations.
We'll train you on the campaign you're representing and teach you how to fundraise.
We're looking for people who are curious enough to learn, passionate enough to care, and confident enough to start a conversation.
You may be a great fit if you:
This work can be incredibly rewarding. It can also be challenging.
You'll approach people you don't know, start conversations, and ask them to become donors.
Some people will stop and listen.
Some won't.
You'll hear "no" regularly.
We'll give you paid training, ongoing coaching, and a supportive team, but you'll need resilience and a willingness to keep improving.
Your hourly pay is guaranteed. Your performance still matters.
You must be able to consistently commit to at least 3 full shifts per week.
Training begins with our Brooklyn team near Dean Street. Once trained, you'll fundraise with your team at locations throughout New York City.
This is active, public-facing work. Expect to spend much of your shift outdoors, walking, standing, and speaking with people.
Please make sure you:
Previous experience in advocacy, volunteering, nonprofits, community organizing, theatre, hospitality, education, customer service, fundraising, canvassing, or sales can be helpful - but isn't required.
