Job summary

Walbridge is seeking a Human Resource Specialist to support a state-of-the-art construction project near Van Buren Township, MI. You will champion Walbridge culture, manage HR processes, and advise staff and management.

Responsibilities include ensuring positive employee relations, guiding compliance with EEO and OFCCP, and partnering with site supervisors on Talent Acquisition while supporting the corporate HR team. Travel about 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or related field with 3–5 years HR experience.
• Proven expertise in HR specialty areas (recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration).
• Proficiency in HRIS, databases, MS Office, and data analysis tools.

The Opportunity

In this role, you will leverage your HR expertise to champion our company culture, manage various HR processes, and serve as a trusted advisor to staff and management. You will play a key role in ensuring positive employee relations among all team members and fostering a productive work environment.

You will work from a long-term project near Van Buren Township, MI.

Responsibilities

Your Key Responsibilities

• Champion: Advance Walbridge culture of inclusion initiative and promote strong working relationships.
• Guide: Provide guidance and maintain compliance with EEO, labor classifications, and OFCCP requirements.
• Facilitate: Partner with on-siteproject supervisors, facilitate the Talent Acquisition process, and support the corporate HR team.
• Oversight: Provide oversight of new team member programs, health & wellness initiatives, training, labor postings and signage, and substance abuse testing process.
• Investigate: Lead investigations and resolve team member relations matters promptly and effectively.

Qualifications

To Qualify for the role, you must have

• A bachelor’s degree in human resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or a related field, and a 3-5 years of HR experience.
• Proven expertise in a specific HR specialty area (e.g., recruitment, team member relations, benefits administration).
• Proficiency in HR information systems, databases, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, SharePoint), and data analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of HR principles, practices, and procedures.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive issues with discretion.
• Excellent time management, organization skills, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness and ability to travel; travel is estimated at 10%.

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Experience working in a construction or unionized environment.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Ability to build relationships and work effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
