Reports To: Human Resources Manager
Compensation: $60 to $75K base on experience
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting the day-to-day functions of the Human Resources department, including recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, employee relations, leave administration, benefits administration, compliance, training, and enforcement of company policies and practices. This position serves as a resource to employees and managers while helping ensure HR programs and practices are administered consistently and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and employee development programs, including safety and workplace conduct training.
- Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified candidates for open administrative and professional positions.
- Partner with managers to understand the skills, qualifications, and competencies required for open positions.
- Coordinate and oversee the onboarding process for new employees, including participation in new hire orientation.
- Assist with administrative activities related to employee separations.
- Implement and manage employee recognition and engagement programs.
- Administer HR programs and processes related to leave administration, employee relations, disciplinary matters, investigations, performance management, talent management, productivity, recognition, morale, and training and development.
- Respond to employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and managers, escalating complex or sensitive matters to the Human Resources Manager as appropriate.
- Participate in employee disciplinary meetings, investigations, and termination processes.
- Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as established HR best practices.
- Monitor changes in employment legislation, regulations, HR trends, and technology and make recommendations as appropriate.
- Assist with the administration of annual open enrollment programs.
- Educate and assist employees with questions regarding benefits, including health, dental, vision, retirement plans, COBRA, FMLA, and other employee benefit programs.
- Coordinate employee wellness programs and related benefits initiatives.
- Review and approve benefit-related invoices and coordinate with Accounting for processing.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation.
- Prepare business correspondence, reports, policies, and recommendations as needed.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

- Working knowledge of employee benefits and related compliance requirements, including ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Medicare, Social Security, and Department of Labor requirements.
- Knowledge of open enrollment processes and procedures.
- Ability to interpret and apply policies, regulations, and legal requirements related to employment, compensation, and benefits.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing confidential and sensitive information.
- Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships across all levels of an organization.
- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare professional correspondence, reports, policies, and recommendations.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage a high volume of administrative responsibilities.
- Flexibility to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- At least one year of professional Human Resources experience preferred.
- SHRM-CP certification is a plus.
