Title: Human Resources & Payroll Specialist

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer

Location: Corporate Office

Basic Function: The Human Resources & Payroll Specialist is responsible for administering payroll processes and supporting a wide range of human resources programs and practices. This role assists with the planning, organization, development, implementation, and coordination of HR policies and procedures. Responsibilities also include processing bi-weekly payroll through Paycor, maintaining employee records, ensuring compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations, and performing general accounting duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll using Paycor.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Administer HR programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist with employee onboarding, benefits administration, and employee relations matters.
  • Maintain personnel files and employee data.
  • Support compliance with employment laws and company policies.
  • Assist with HR reporting, audits, and documentation.
  • Perform general accounting and administrative duties as needed.
  • Provide support to management and employees regarding payroll and HR-related questions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct new hire orientations, process Personnel Action Forms, and maintain employee personnel records.
  • Process payroll accurately and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies.
  • Develop, maintain, and update the Employee Handbook, and provide training to employees regarding handbook policies and procedures.
  • Propose, implement, publish, and administer personnel policies and procedures.
  • Administer the job classification program, including position classifications, reclassifications, and job description development.
  • Provide employment-related information, including employment verifications.
  • Respond to and monitor unemployment claims and represent the Company as needed.
  • Coordinate workplace safety programs and maintain OSHA records in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Monitor workers' compensation claims and coordinate communication between employees, medical providers, and insurance carriers.
  • Serve as the Company's Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) specialist by maintaining current knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and industry trends to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Manage the annual performance review process, including wage and salary administration recommendations.
  • Partner with department and shop managers to provide guidance and support on employee relations, performance management, and other personnel matters.
  • Administer and ensure compliance with all employee separation and termination procedures.
  • Enforce company policies and maintain consistent application across all departments.
  • Support and promote the Company's Mission, Vision, and Values in all aspects of employment and employee relations.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of Human Resources principles and practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven employee relations and conflict resolution skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Positive, customer-focused, and service-oriented attitude.
  • Experience with Paycor is preferred.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of Human Resources experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Essential Physical Requirements
  • Physical ability requiring frequent stooping and bending.
  • Physical strength to lift and carry 25 pounds frequently.
