  • Assist in employee training and development programs as needed.
  • Monitor and report on HR metrics, including attendance, turnover, and payroll reports.
  • Support HR audits, compliance activities, and reporting requirements.
  • Assist in organizing employee engagement activities, including recognition programs, team events, and other HR initiatives.

Job description

The Human Resources Assistant supports the HR department in executing payroll, onboarding, and employee engagement activities while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations. This role promotes positive employee relations, accurate recordkeeping, and smooth HR operations, contributing to overall organizational performance. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple HR-related tasks with confidentiality and professionalism. Paychex payroll system is preferred.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years of HR and administrative experience, in payroll, benefits administration, and employee relations.
  • Experience with payroll is required.
  • Strong communication, organization, and people skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing demands.

  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Process payroll accurately and timely.

  • Collaborate with department managers to ensure HR processes are integrated into daily operations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all employees and payroll information.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor regulations.
  • Follow facility infection control, safety, and emergency procedures at all times.
  • Report all incidents, unsafe conditions, and equipment hazards immediately.
  • Demonstrate strong people skills, take a proactive approach to problem-solving, and collaborate effectively across departments while upholding company policies and regulatory compliance.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform routine office tasks.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally.
  • Capacity to maintain focus and accuracy while performing repetitive tasks.
  • Required to work occasional extended hours to meet payroll or HR deadlines.
Mental & Work Requirements:
  • Ability to maintain focus and attention for extended periods while performing a variety of tasks, including training, activities, and administrative duties.
  • Must demonstrate flexibility, patience, and good judgment when working with residents, families, and staff.
  • Required to work every other weekend as part of the regular schedule, and additional hours as assigned by the Human Resource Director or executive leadership to meet facility needs.
Employment Conditions:
  • This position may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, and hazardous materials during normal duties.
  • A Hepatitis B vaccination will be offered at no cost to the employee.
  • Employment is at-will and may be terminated by either the employee or the employer at any time, with or without cause or prior notice.
  • Works primarily in an office environment but may interact with employees across the organization.
  • May be required to assist in emergency situations, including evacuations.
