Job summary

Joss Search is seeking a hands-on HR Generalist / Payroll Specialist to support a lean two-person HR team. You will own U.S. payroll through ADP Workforce Now while contributing across benefits, onboarding, and HR analytics.

The role offers growth into an HRBP capacity with exposure to international payroll and broader HR functions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and a strong communicator, with 2–5 years in HR operations or payroll and advanced Excel skills.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of HR Operations and/or Payroll experience.
• Experience with ADP Workforce Now and HRIS platforms.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
• Financial services or corporate environment preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Own and process bi-monthly U.S. payroll through ADP Workforce Now.
• Manage off-cycle payroll, bonuses, and T&E reimbursements.
• Support UK and Luxembourg payroll processes.
• Review payroll registers and reconcile discrepancies.
• Oversee benefits administration and open enrollment.
• Administer 401(k) and compliance tracking.
• Maintain HRIS; partner with vendors on improvements.
• Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes.
• Coordinate training and development initiatives.
• Assist with performance reviews, compensation, and dashboards.

THE ROLE

This is a hands-on HR Generalist / Payroll Specialist opportunity supporting a lean, high-performing two-person HR team. Working closely with the HR Business Partner, this individual will take ownership of payroll while contributing across a broad range of HR functions. The firm is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive professional who is excited to grow and develop into a broader HR Business Partner capacity over time.

Key Responsibilities:

• Payroll Administration
• Own and process bi-monthly U.S. payroll through ADP Workforce Now
• Manage off-cycle payroll, bonus payments, and T&E reimbursements
• Support international payroll processes for the UK and Luxembourg
• Review payroll registers and reconcile discrepancies
• Manage annual open enrollment and ongoing benefits administration
• Serve as the main point of contact with benefit carriers and audit invoices
• Administer the firm's 401(k) plan, including manual uploads and compliance tracking
• Maintain the HRIS and partner with vendors on system enhancements and automation
• Oversee employee onboarding and offboarding processes
• Coordinate training sessions and employee development initiatives
• Performance & Reporting
• Assist with performance review processes, templates, and workflows
• Support compensation administration and bonus tracking
• Prepare HR reporting, metrics, and dashboards using advanced Excel
• Gain exposure to Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, and HRBP responsibilities over time

THE CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, and an effective communicator. They possess strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will...

• Have 2-5 years of experience in HR Operations and/or Payroll
• Be proficient in ADP Workforce Now and HRIS platforms
• Have advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis
• Come from a financial services or corporate environment, preferred
• Demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and follow-up skills
• Be collaborative, resourceful, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively

THE COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Base salary of $100K-$130K
• Discretionary bonus of 10-20%
• Hybrid schedule: fully in-office during training, transitioning to a 3/2 schedule
• Standard hours of 8:30am-6:00pm
• Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision (one plan fully covered), FSA/HSA, and commuter benefits
• Lunch stipend provided
