Full time | Exempt | $80,000–$90,000 annually

Help shape the employee experience at Hamline:

Are you an HR professional who enjoys helping people work through challenges and making everyday processes easier? Join Hamline University as a Human Resources Business Partner and help us deliver thoughtful, responsive HR support across campus.

Founded in 1854, Hamline is Minnesota’s first university. Our faculty, staff and students cultivate an ethic of civic responsibility, social justice, and inclusive leadership and service. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to that mission through practical guidance and meaningful partnerships with the people who make the university work.

  • Conduct and support workplace investigations with fairness, consistency, careful documentation and sound judgment.
  • Support labor relations, including collective bargaining agreement interpretation, grievances and matters involving represented employees.
  • Advise on compensation, job classification, organizational structure and internal equity.
  • Provide guidance on employment law, HR policy, employee leaves, accommodations and compliance.
  • Support workforce planning, recruitment and position development.
  • Use Workday, HR data and technology to improve processes and the employee experience.

Applicants using the full substitution must have at least three years and six months of qualifying HR experience.

  • Experience with compensation, classification, or organizational design.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, Minnesota and applicable local employment laws and employee leave requirements, including FMLA, Minnesota Paid Leave, Minnesota Earned Sick and Safe Time, accommodations and related requirements.
  • Strong investigation, problem-solving, communication and judgment skills, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
Prefrerred experience we welcome:

The following qualifications are preferred, rather than required. If you meet the minimum qualifications, we encourage you to apply even if you do not bring every preferred qualification.
