Job summary

APEX Building Company, LLC's Waterproofing Division in Tennessee seeks an experienced HR/Payroll professional for a full-time, on-site role in Jackson or Nashville. You will manage all employee benefits, oversee open enrollment, process enrollments and terminations, and liaise with brokers to ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA.

This role also covers compensation analysis, salary evaluations, bonus program administration, and coordinating performance review cycles across branches, while

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ Years of progressive experience in HR/Payroll or people operations.
  • Proficiency with HRIS, payroll systems, Microsoft Office, and professional business documentation.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM CP, SHRM SCP, or equivalent HR certification required.
  • Experience supporting multi location and/or multi state operations.
  • Strong knowledge of HR policies, employment law, and HR best practices.
  • Excellent organizational, problem solving, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, supplemental insurance, and 401(k).
  • Oversee annual open enrollment, including communication, employee support, and system updates.
  • Process new hire enrollments, qualifying life events, and terminations.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with brokers and benefit vendors.
  • Maintain accurate benefit records and ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, and other regulations.
  • EEO 1 reporting and OSHA logs and annual OSHA 300A posting.
  • ACA reporting (1094/1095 filings), New hire reporting, Federal and state unemployment filings.
  • FMLA documentation and compliance, I-9 verification, audits, and retention requirements.
  • Conduct salary evaluations to ensure internal equity, market competitiveness, and compliance with wage laws.
  • Support leadership in developing and administering bonus structures, including performance-based and annual bonus programs.
  • Analyze compensation data, recommend adjustments, and maintain documentation for salary and bonus decisions.
  • Partner with managers to ensure fair, consistent, and transparent compensation practices across all departments and locations.
  • Set up, coordinate, and administer performance review cycles across all Apex branches.
  • Ensure managers complete evaluations accurately, consistently, and on schedule.
  • Provide training and guidance to supervisors on performance evaluation standards and documentation.
  • Maintain performance review records and ensure alignment with compensation, promotions, and development plans.
  • Support goal setting processes and ensure employees receive clear, actionable feedback.
  • Track completion rates and follow up with branch leadership to ensure full compliance.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, and HRIS data.
  • Assist with payroll operations, including timekeeping accuracy and resolving discrepancies.
  • Conduct salary evaluations and support compensation alignment across roles and locations.
  • Support recruiting, interviewing, and hiring processes as needed.
  • Manage performance documentation, corrective actions, and termination procedures.
  • Prepare HR reports, metrics, and recommendations for leadership.
  • Perform additional HR duties as needed to support evolving needs of the company.
