Mercaso is seeking an experienced and hands-on Human Resources Manager to lead and support all HR functions in a fast-paced startup environment supporting warehouse, wholesale, and transportation operations. This role will be heavily focused on employee relations, compliance, and supporting a large non-exempt workforce. The ideal candidate is bilingual in Spanish and English, thrives in an on-site operational setting, and brings strong experience partnering with frontline leaders.

Key Responsibilities include:

Employee Relations & Workforce Support

• Serve as primary point of contact for employee relations matters across a large non-exempt population
• Investigate and resolve employee concerns including attendance, performance, conduct, and policy violations
• Coach managers and supervisors on progressive discipline, documentation, and best practices
• Support conflict resolution and foster a positive workplace culture

Compliance & HR Operations

• Ensure compliance with federal, state (California), and local employment laws and regulations
• Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation
• Support workers’ compensation, leaves of absence, and accommodations
• Partner with payroll to ensure accurate timekeeping and wage compliance

Talent & Performance Management

• Support recruiting and onboarding for hourly and salaried roles
• Develop and implement training programs for supervisors and employees
• Support performance review processes and development planning

Culture & Organizational Growth

• Help build HR processes and structure in a startup environment
• Drive engagement initiatives and retention strategies
• Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on people strategy

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred)
• 4+ years of HR experience, preferably in warehouse, wholesale, logistics, transportation, or manufacturing environments
• Strong employee relations experience with large non-exempt/hourly populations
• Experience working in a startup or high-growth environment
• Fluent in Spanish and English (required)
• Solid knowledge of California labor laws and HR best practices
• Hands-on, proactive, and comfortable being on the floor with operations teams
• Strong communication, investigation, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to come onsite daily
• Authorized to work in the US, now and in the future, without sponsorship

Preferred Experience

• HR experience supporting warehouse operations or distribution centers
• Experience with multi-shift environments
• Fully on-site in Commerce, CA (Monday–Friday)
• Fast-paced, operational setting working closely with frontline teams and leadership
