Job summary

Garfield Refining, a 130+-year-old precious metal refinery in Philadelphia, PA, seeks an experienced HR Manager to lead day-to-day HR operations. You will be a trusted partner to leadership, focus on employee engagement, and drive recruiting, performance processes, and HR policy administration.

You’ll support a hands-on, autonomous HR function, manage benefits programs, and ensure compliance while maintaining a positive workplace culture that aligns with our long-term business goals.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a hands-on HR generalist or HR management role.
• Strong employee relations and recruiting experience.
• A friendly, approachable, and professional communication style.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfort partnering with and coaching managers at all levels.
• Strong organization and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Working knowledge of employment law and HR best practices

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted advisor to managers on employee relations, performance, and day-to-day people matters.
• Own recruiting efforts, sourcing, and screening through interviewing, offers, and onboarding.
• Handle employee relations matters, including counseling, mediation, and investigations, and partner with senior leadership as needed.
• Lead the annual performance review process and support managers throughout the process.
• Help foster a positive, engaged, and supportive workplace culture.
• Administer and refine HR policies, procedures, and practices.
• Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, life, disability, and 401(k), and manage related compliance requirements.
• Maintain accurate employee records and data in our HR/Payroll system, iSolved.
• Review bi-weekly payroll for accuracy and help ensure compliance.

The Opportunity – HR Manager

We’re looking for an HR Manager to lead our HR function day-to-day. Reporting to Senior Leadership, you’ll serve as a trusted business partner with a strong focus on employee engagement, manager support, and recruiting. You’ll balance what’s right for our people with what’s right for the business and bring a practical, hands-on approach to HR.
