Job summary

Thornton Fractional High School District 215 is seeking a Human Resources Manager to lead and evolve the district's HR services. You will partner with district leadership to build a high-performing workforce and drive initiatives that enhance the employee experience and align with district goals.

The role focuses on talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and continuous process improvement across the district.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, public administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible human resources experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, and HR operations.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and Illinois School Code.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in human resources information systems (HRIS).
  • Must be discreet and maintain strict confidentiality on employee matters.
  • Must be able to work independently and plan ahead.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize.
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and assist in daily HR operations to ensure efficient delivery of HR services.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline HR operations by developing and implementing improvements to HR processes, procedures, and workflows through technology and automation.
  • Interpret and administer Board policies, administrative procedures, collective bargaining agreements, and HR practices.
  • Assist the CHRO in setting departmental goals and implementing strategic initiatives.
  • Provide guidance to administrators regarding employee relations, performance management, staff attendance, workplace concerns, policy interpretation, and progressive discipline.
  • Maintain confidentiality while conducting and coordinating workplace investigations.
  • Recommend practical solutions to promote consistency, compliance, and positive employee relations.
  • Evaluate and continuously improve districtwide onboarding initiatives to provide a consistent and engaging new employee experience.
  • Oversee recruitment activities including applicant screening, interview coordination, employment offers, orientation, and onboarding.
  • Collaborate with administrators to develop recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Evaluate recruitment data and recommend process improvements.
  • Develop employee recognition, wellness, and engagement programs.
  • Represent human resources on district committees and cross-functional teams.
  • Train new human resources department employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Human Resources Officer.

Reports to: Chief Human Resources Officer

Position summary: The Human Resources Manager provides operational and strategic leadership in the administration of the District's HR functions. This position partners with District leadership to foster a high-performing workforce through employee relations, talent acquisition, onboarding, employee engagement, performance management, and continuous process improvement. This position serves as a trusted resource to administrators while leading initiatives that enhance the employee experience and support the district's strategic goals.

Role Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, public administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible human resources experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, and HR operations.

  • Experience with employee engagement, organizational development, strategic HR initiatives, and workforce analytics.

Terms Of Employment
  • 12-month work year
  • Salary range is $90,000-$105,000, based on verified experience and education
  • Board-paid employee-only medical, dental, vision and $50,000 basic life insurance
    • Employee contribution required for family coverage
