Job summary

Engelsma Homes is seeking an experienced human resources leader to own the HR function and serve as a strategic partner to the leadership team. You will support payroll, onboarding, talent acquisition, and employee lifecycle management with the Fractional HR Director providing guidance.

You will coordinate recruiting from posting to interviews, refine onboarding, and ensure confidential HR support on benefits, leave, and payroll.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in human resources with 8+ years of HR experience or equivalent.
• Strong capability to manage day-to-day HR operations and strategic partnering.
• Experience with payroll, onboarding, recruiting, benefits, compliance and HRIS.

Responsibilities

• Provide HR support and structure for the organization and act as a strategic business partner.
• Coordinate recruiting from posting to final interviews and improve candidate experience.
• Own onboarding, pre-employment screening, HRIS data entry, documentation, and orientation.
• Support employees confidentially on benefits, leave, and payroll matters.
• Manage Paylocity HRIS and payroll processes with accurate records.
• Lead employee engagement initiatives and company events.
• Coordinate development, certifications, and compliance initiatives.
• Oversee performance reviews and employee lifecycle processes.
• Handle terminations, offboarding, and exit interviews.
• Ensure HR processes align with organizational goals and policies.

Who You Are:

You're a human resources leader that loves the details of HR and wants to take ownership of the HR function, while being that strategic business partner to the leadership team. With the support of the Fractional HR Director, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day HR function. You hold a bachelor's degree in human resources with 8+ years of HR experience or an equivalent background. You are committed to ongoing education and holding an accredited HR certification is a plus. If you are someone who can juggle multiple priorities, who gets everyone on the same page, and can run the day-to-day HR operations of a business, this could be a role you excel in.

What You'll Do:

You'll provide HR support and structure for the organization, manage and process payroll, own talent acquisition and employee lifecycle management, and partner with leadership on strategic initiatives. Specifically, you'll:

• Coordinate recruiting efforts from the initial job post to final interviews, creating an excellent candidate experience
• Champion and refine the onboarding process, coordinating pre-employment screening, HRIS entry, employment documentation, and orientation
• With the utmost confidentiality, provide support to employees in HR related matters and questions including benefits, leave, and payroll
• Manage the HR & Payroll system, Paylocity, using your honed HRIS skills to maintain accurate employee records and documentation
• Bring your payroll processing experience to own the bi-weekly payroll process with great attention to detail, including accurate timekeeping, and administering PTO and employee reimbursements
• Lead employee engagement initiatives including employee communications, recognition programs, and company events
• Coordinate professional development, certifications, and compliance initiatives
• Oversee performance review programs and employee lifecycle processes
• Handle employee terminations including employee offboarding and exit interviews
• Partner with leadership to ensure HR processes are compliant, employee-focused, and reflect the organization's strategic goals
• Create and modify existing HR infrastructure, including practices, policies, and procedures to best serve our employees and leadership team
• Develop the vision for our future HR team
