SUMMARY

General Description:The Human Resources Intern will support the HR team with a variety of administrative and employee-related activities while gaining hands‑on experience in human resources operations. Responsibilities may include assisting with onboarding, preparing HR documents, supporting employee engagement initiatives, The intern will also assist with special projects and help ensure HR processes are organized, accurate, and aligned with company policies and procedures.


The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, detail‑oriented, and able to handle confidential information with professionalism. Strong communication skills, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment are highly valued.


Responsibilities and Duties:



  • Support new‑hireonboarding and orientationprocesses.

  • Assist with preparingHR-related documents, reports, forms, andcorrespondence.

  • Assist with employeeengagement activities,company events, andinternal communications.

  • Aid HR Staff as needed ensuring HRpolicies, procedures, anddocumentation are followedand maintained accurately.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

General Education


College: Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.


Major: Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, Organizational Psychology, Psychology, or a related field is preferred.


Job-Related Experience:



  • Previous experience inhuman resources, recruiting, administration, customerservice, or arelated field ispreferred.

  • Experience working inan office, professional, or team-oriented environment isa plus.

  • Experience handling confidentialor sensitive informationis preferred.

  • Experience with scheduling, data entry, recordkeeping, or administrative tasksis helpful.

  • Familiarity with MicrosoftOffice, Google Workspace, orother HR/businesssoftware is aplus.

  • Previous internship, volunteer, campus organization, orother relevant experiencemay be consideredin lieu offormal HR experience.


Certifications: Nospecific certificationrequired.


Licenses, etc.: Valid driver's license is necessary while operating a vehicle while on agency business. Must be able to transport themselves to VSA's Headquarters office (located in Norfolk, VA).

Must be able to obtain and maintain eligibility for issuance of a NASA credential.
