RHI Magnesita is seeking an HR Generalist for our fully onsite U.S. manufacturing team in York. You will support both hourly and salaried employees and partner with Operations, Safety, and Quality to drive engagement and compliance.

The role covers recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, attendance and workforce planning, benefits administration, and HRIS data management. A Bachelor’s in HR or 4 years’ related experience is preferred, with 2–4 years in manufacturing HR.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or 4 years’ experience in lieu of degree.
  • 2–4 years HR experience in manufacturing, industrial, or distribution environments.
  • Experience with HRIS, recruiting systems, and timekeeping tools.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as HR partner for leaders and employees, advising on policies and employment matters.
  • Support full-cycle recruiting for hourly and skilled trades positions.
  • Lead onboarding and orientation activities, ensuring compliance with safety and operational training requirements.
  • Manage employee relations, investigations, and resolutions.
  • Partner with operations on attendance management, workforce planning, scheduling, and overtime compliance.
  • Administer benefits, leave programs, workers’ compensation claims, and return-to-work processes.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data while supporting compliance and audit requirements.
  • Assist with performance management and coaching leaders on documentation and development planning.
  • Contribute to engagement initiatives, safety programs, and continuous improvement efforts.

Human Resources Generalist

Are you a people-focused HR professional who thrives in a dynamic manufacturing environment? As an HR Generalist, you will play a key role in supporting both hourly and salaried employees while partnering closely with Operations, Safety, and Quality teams. This fully onsite position is instrumental in fostering employee engagement, supporting workforce planning, ensuring compliance, and helping create a positive and productive workplace culture.

What You'll Do
  • Serve as a trusted HR partner for leaders and employees, providing guidance on policies, procedures, and employment matters.
  • Support full-cycle recruiting for hourly and skilled trades positions, including sourcing, screening, hiring events, and agency coordination.
  • Lead onboarding and orientation activities, ensuring compliance with safety and operational training requirements.
  • Manage employee relations matters, conduct investigations, and recommend appropriate resolutions.
  • Partner with operations leaders on attendance management, workforce planning, scheduling practices, and overtime compliance.
  • Administer benefits, leave programs, workers’ compensation claims, and return-to-work processes.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data while supporting compliance and audit requirements.
  • Assist with performance management, coaching leaders on documentation, development planning, and employee growth.
  • Contribute to engagement initiatives, safety programs, and continuous improvement efforts that strengthen employee retention and workplace culture.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; alternatively, four (4) years of relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 2 to 4 years of Human Resources experience, preferably within manufacturing, industrial, or distribution environments.
  • Comfortable working in a fully onsite manufacturing environment where visibility, accessibility, and employee engagement are critical to success.
  • Flexible and willing to occasionally provide support outside of standard daylight hours to ensure employee needs are met, while primarily working a Monday through Friday daylight schedule.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws, employee relations practices, and workforce management in operational settings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience using HRIS platforms, recruiting systems, and timekeeping tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while balancing multiple priorities.
